Just Peace Theory
My name is Valerie Elverton Dixon, and I study.  I study ethics and morality; war and peace; the relationship between justice and peace; text interpretation; womanist/feminist thought; and religion in society. I believe in the moral evolution of humanity. I believe that the purpose of living is sustenance and joy for ourselves and for all of humanity, nature, and creation. I believe that human beings have the power of decision. We decide how we are going to act; we decide what we are going to do. Deciding to do nothing in a particular situation is still a decision. We are all response-able and responsible.

I intend for the essays and lectures on this site to be food for thought as you make your decisions about how you will live in this world. There is much discussion in our public discourse about “wokeness.”  I am suspicious of criticism about “wokeness” because there is an old saying: “There is a sucker born every minute, and one to take them, and one to wake them.” If we are not a taker or a waker, we are the mark. I hope these essays and lectures will help you think beyond the divide and conquer con game that is the foundation of a status quo where income inequality keeps too many people living lives devoid of sustenance and joy. Extreme income inequality is violence. It is unjust. No justice; no peace.

Cosmology teaches that we are all star stuff. We all have a light to shine upon the world. This is my little light shining. This is my contribution. I do scholarly work, and scholarly work is still work. Biblical wisdom teaches that a worker is worth her wages. I offer these essays free of charge. However, I am hopeful that you will donate to help us continue to do this work. Every dollar helps, and I am very grateful for every contribution.

Peace, Sustenance, and Joy,
